Tiobe has updated its monthly popularity rankings for programming languages, and once again Java was at the top with a 19.565 percent rating. The rest of the top five included C (15.625 percent), C++ (6.782 percent), C# (4.909 percent) and Python (3.664 percent).

The company noted that this month it made some changes to its algorithm to reduce statistical noise, and that resulted in big moves for a few languages. Go jumped up from 95th last month to 44th this time, and Scala moved from 33rd to 27th, while Clojure climbed from 67th to 52nd. On the other hand, F# dropped precipitously from 16th to 32nd and OpenEdge ABL went from 21st to 30th.
