Code repository service GitLab is changing cloud computing providers. The company announced that it is switching from Microsoft Azure to Google Cloud Platform. Officially, the reason for the migration is that Google offers better support for Kubernetes, which GitLab believes will help them boost stability and scalability.

Unofficially, the move is interesting in the wake of Microsoft’s purchase of GitLab rival GitHub. Many in the open source community who distrust Microsoft moved their projects to GitLab after the acquisition. Changing cloud computing providers may make those developers even happier with their decision to transition to GitLab.
