On December 16, Git became the 24th member of the Software Freedom Conservancy.
The Conservancy helps free and open source projects with financial and administrative services. According to the Conservancy, this allows software developers to focus on creating software exclusively.
The Software Freedom Conservancy is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, incorporated in New York State. The organization can collect donations, hold assets on behalf of the project, and offer some personal liability protection for lead developers of the open source project.
