A German group called VZBV is calling for Facebook to make changes to its newly released App Center. The App Center provides easy access to third-party Facebook apps and games, but the VZBV alleges that the tool also gathers personal information without users’ consent, which violates Germany’s Telemedia Act. “The practice of the company … to assume [consent] simply must come to an end,” VZBV announced.
VZBV has threatened to take legal action if Facebook does not change the App Center by September 4.
Facebook has frequently been accused of violating European data privacy laws and has been the target of several related investigations.
