Adoption of open source business intelligence software has been doubling every year because it’s “good enough” for routine applications.
Mitch Betts of Computer World has the story.
According to Betts, Gartner Inc. analyst Andreas Bitterer has published a report showing that while commercial vendors still have superior BI technology, Bitterer wrote that “open source is slowly becoming just another sourcing option for everyday BI requirements.”
And not only is open source no longer limited to cash-strapped organizations, Betts reports that according to Bitterer open source BI tools are “going mainstream.”
