The open source social networking project, Diaspora, is available only via private alpha, but Ars Technica’s Ryan Paul has seen it.
“Diaspora feels a lot like a less polished version of the Facebook activity stream,” Paul said. “It offers a similar user experience, but with a stronger emphasis on contact groups.”
But if Facebook and other social networking sites continue to fumble on the privacy front, Diaspora will have at least a niche to carve out.
