Firefox 3.6 Is Almost Ready

Over the weekend a Mozilla pushed out a release candidate of Firefox 3.6. That means the final version could be right around the corner.

The Register’s Kelly Fiveash has the story.

A Mozilla blog post claims that 75 percent of the thousands of Firefox Add-ons have been upgraded by their authors to work with Firefox 3.6.

The update is minor but it has some new features.

“It comes loaded with Personas, allowing surfers to change Firefox’s appearance with a single click of the mouse,” Fiveash reports.

To improve security, Mozilla has changed how third party software straps on to Firefox.

The browser now supports the WOFF font format, HTML 5, full screen open, native video, poster frames and the HTML 5 File API.

The final release could be ready by the end of the month.
