Fennec’s lead developer explains why Firefox for Android, codename Fennec, is relevant.
Some people wonder why Android needs another Web browser, the one that ships with it seems to work pretty good and it’s fast.
According to Matt Brubeck, one of the really cool things about Fennec is Firefox Sync. Firefox Sync allows for bookmarks, tabs, history, passwords and form data to be shared between your desktop Firefox and your Android Firefox.
Other features people might like about Fennec is that it supports add-ons for customization.
He also said, that Firefox for Android is getting a lot faster with the Jaegermonkey JIT.
But it’s also about choice, supporting open source and competition, Brubeck said.
