Facebook Expands FbStart

Back in April, Facebook invited f8 attendees to apply for its FbStart program, which offered free tools and services for mobile development firms. Now the social network has opened the program to all mobile developers—and your app doesn’t need to be integrated with Facebook to apply.

FbStart has two tiers: Bootstrap offers up to $5000 worth of free goodies to startups and Accelerate promises $30,000 worth of stuff to more established developers. “FbStart is an extension of Facebook Platform’s mission to help developers build, grow and monetize their apps,” stated Facebook. “By providing mobile app developers with the essential services they need to get their businesses up and running — or to take them to the next stages of growth — Facebook hopes to help expand the overall app ecosystem.”
