Wednesday at its F8 event, Facebook made a number of product announcements of interest to developers. As expected, the social network is turning its Messenger app into a platform by releasing an SDK and inviting third-party firms to create Messenger apps. The company is also going after the enterprise market with Business on Messenger, which enables some ecommerce functionality.
Other notable announcements included Facebook Analytics for Apps, the LiveRail monetization platform for mobile development firms and Parse SDKs for the Internet of Things. In addition, Facebook open sourced ComponentKit, its user interface framework for iOS.
