According to EurActiv.com, Oracle’s new set of terms offered to the European Union would do nothing to persuade European Union antitrust regulators to approve Oracle’s acquisition of Sun Microsystems.

Sources “close to the deal say Oracle’s ‘public remedies’ are unlikely to satisfy the EU’s original objections to the deal,” reported EurActiv.com.

Neelie Kroes is the EU’s competition commissioner. She said that she was “optimistic there would be a satisfactory outcome” and that Oracle’s new terms are an “important new element to be taken into account.”

However, sources close to the process say Kroes has not been swayed by Oracle’s latest announcement, reports EurActiv.com.
