Docker has announced that future versions of both the open source and enterprise versions of its eponymous containerization software will include Kubernetes. The Kubernetes container orchestration tool has been growing in popularity lately, and experts say the integration between Kubernetes and Docker will make it easier for developers to get Kubernetes instances up and running. The integration news is somewhat surprising, however, as Docker also has its own orchestration tool called Swarm, which it plans to continue supporting.

In related news, Docker also announced that IBM is joining its Modernize Traditional Applications (MTA) program. MTA helps enterprise application development teams transition legacy applications to container models to provide greater agility and other benefits. Cisco, HPE, Avanade and Microsoft are also members of the MTA program.
