Digg developers are dumping MySQL for Cassandra.

“The move is another win for the NoSQL movement which looks to move from centralized SQL based databases to distributed key/value stores more suited to large scale web applications,” reported The H.

Cassandra was built by Facebook and released as open source in 2008. It’s now developed in the Apache Incubator project.
