Magic Leap has begun shipping developer versions of its augmented reality headsets to a small group of programmers, but the company is insisting on some strict security protocols. For example, the developers must agree to keep the devices locked in safes when not in use. At least one mobile development firm decided the hassle wasn’t worth it and declined to participate in the program.

According to Bloomberg, the Magic Leap device looks like “bulky safety goggles dotted with small camera lenses” and require both a belt-attached computer and a wireless controller that looks like a TV remote. The device is expected to sell for between $1,500 and $2,000.
