InfoWorld’s Andrew C. Oliver has put together a list of nine trends that he believes will have a big impact on development next year. Here’s his list:

  1. Containers will rule the world.
  2. Java’s decline as a language will accelerate.
  3. The EMC/Dell merger will be a debacle.
  4. NoSQL databases will take hold.
  5. Spark, Spark, Spark.
  6. Real-time everything.
  7. ETL will continue to be the silent killer.
  8. “Self-service” will be 2016’s keyword.
  9. Management of big data and container farms.
