Concerned about the ongoing shortage of Java developers in the U.S., IT services vendor Cook Systems has launched a new recruitment and training program it calls FastTrack’D. Through the program, the company hopes to identify people with the qualities necessary in a good Java developer and then to help them acquire the skills they need. The company plans to produce 2,000 new Java developers over the next two years. And of course, it expects to hire the newly minted Java developers it produces through the program.
“Really, what [the program] is about is creating an answer for severe shortage of developers in this country, specifically Java developers,” said Cook Systems CEO Wayne Cook. “Being a large solutions staffing company, I can tell you firsthand that you can hardly find an American Java developer, no matter how hard you try. Rarely can you find one.”
