Cloud Computing Revenues Climb 50%

Synergy Research has released its latest analysis of the cloud computing market, and it reported that for the second quarter in a row, cloud revenues increased 50 percent over 2017 levels. Total sales for infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and hosted private cloud topped $16 billion.

Amazon Web Services continued to dominate the market, increasing its market share lead. In fact, it had a larger piece of the market than its next four competitors combined. Actual numbers were Amazon 34 percent, Microsoft 14 percent, IBM 8 percent, Google 6 percent and Alibaba 4 percent.
