Multiple news outlets including Bloomberg and the Seattle Times are reporting that Microsoft is planning a major reorganization that will result in significant layoffs. Based on unnamed sources, the reports say that the layoffs will primarily affect the sales organization as the company makes a shift from selling boxed software to cloud computing-based services.
Microsoft has not commented on the news. The company employs approximately 121,500 people.
