Yet another manufacturer is jumping into the smartwatch fray. Casio, the Japanese company best known for its calculator watches and digital keyboards, says it is creating a new smartwatch. The company plans to distinguish itself by building “a watch that tries to be smart, rather than a smart device that is also a watch.”
Casio president Kazuhiro Kashio added, “We are trying to bring our smartwatch to a level of watch perfection: a device that won’t break easily, is simple to put on and feels good to wear.”
The device will likely sell for around $400. The report doesn’t indicate what operating system the watch might use or if mobile development firms will be able to create apps for the device.
