Black Duck Names 2016 Open Source Rookies of the Year

Open source software management vendor Black Duck has named the winners of its ninth annual Open Source Rookie of the Year awards. This year’s winners include the following:

  • Sawtooth Lake — a distributed ledger platform for the Hyperledger blockchain project
  • Carbon Data — an Apache project that offers fully indexed, columnar, Hadoop-native data storage that integrates with Spark
  • Deep Scalable Sparse Tensor Network Engine (DSSTNE) — an Amazon tool that speeds machine learning
  • OpenCORD — a data center infrastructure tool that combines software-defined networking, network functions virtualization and cloud computing
  • Poseidon — a government-sponsored security tool that uses machine learning to improve protection
  • Trireme — a cloud-native tool for securing distributed applications
  • Ansible Container — a DevOps automation tool for managing containers with Ansible Playbooks
  • Kolibri — educational resources for low-income communities
