Open source software management vendor Black Duck has named the winners of its ninth annual Open Source Rookie of the Year awards. This year’s winners include the following:
- Sawtooth Lake — a distributed ledger platform for the Hyperledger blockchain project
- Carbon Data — an Apache project that offers fully indexed, columnar, Hadoop-native data storage that integrates with Spark
- Deep Scalable Sparse Tensor Network Engine (DSSTNE) — an Amazon tool that speeds machine learning
- OpenCORD — a data center infrastructure tool that combines software-defined networking, network functions virtualization and cloud computing
- Poseidon — a government-sponsored security tool that uses machine learning to improve protection
- Trireme — a cloud-native tool for securing distributed applications
- Ansible Container — a DevOps automation tool for managing containers with Ansible Playbooks
- Kolibri — educational resources for low-income communities
