During its Re:Invent conference, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced that it would be expanding its AWS Educate program to students age 14 to 17. The program offers cloud computing training, and it could help promote loyalty to AWS cloud services. It could also help to fill the gap in university computer science programs, which are often slow to cover the latest cloud technology advances.
The program could encourage some high school students to pursue careers immediately after graduation instead of going to college. InfoWorld writes, “Indeed, if you teach 14- to 17-year-olds some of the better tactical skills around the use of AWS, as well as general cloud skills such as architecture and security, you will get 18-year-olds who can command $40,000 to $60,000 a year — at the entry level.”
