AT&T has announced that it in June it plans to release several application development tools related to its Watson voice recognition technology. It will initially launch seven APIs for web search, local business search, Q&A, voice mail to text, SMS, AT&T’s U-verse video programming guide and a general-purpose dictation API. In addition, it will put out a Speech Kit SDK.

AT&T has been working on its Watson voice recognition services for more than two decades. In the past, the technology has been used extensively in automated phone menus, but the new releases will expand the technology into mobile apps and other areas.
