A new report from VisionMobile finds that 21 percent of Internet of Things (IoT) developers have plans to develop for wearables in the near future. That’s a notable decrease from six month earlier, when 28 percent of those surveyed had wearables plans. That finding is particularly interesting given that IDC says that wearables shipments increased 223 percent between the second quarter of 2014 and the second quarter of 2015.
The VisionMobile report suggests that developers are currently taking a “wait and see” attitude, with many saying they expect to develop for wearables eventually, but not right now.
It also found that Asia-Pacific developers are more interested in wearables than those in other regions are.
