Apple TV may finally be gaining traction as a development platform. According to Appfigures, the service now has 2,624 apps available. And Appfigures predicts that AppleTV could have 5,000 apps by the end of December and more than 10,000 early next year.
The bulk of the Apple TV apps—1,002 of them—are games, but 56 percent of the top 50 Apple TV apps are entertainment apps. Interestingly, 39 percent of the available apps are paid, which contrasts sharply with mobile, which is now dominated by free apps that offer in-app purchases.
