The mapping capabilities in iOS 6 have come under a huge amount of criticism, but it looks like Apple is hoping to fix the problem. Interestingly, even before iOS 6 launched, the company posted several software engineer positions related to the Maps feature that replaced Google Maps in the latest version of its mobile operating system. The postings request skills like C++ knowledge, understanding of “advanced shader techniques” and strangely, “a special affinity for teapots and bunnies.”

No matter how many developers it hires, Apple will have a long way to go to catch up to Google. Reportedly, about 7,000 people work on Google Maps.
