Apple Offers Free Coding Classes for a Week

In support of Computer Science Education week, Apple is partnering with Code.org to offer free coding classes Dec. 5–11. The classes will be held at all of the nearly 500 Apple Stores worldwide, and they will center on computer science basics and Apple’s Swift Playground code instruction app.

“Hour of Code embodies our vision for Apple stores as a place for the community to gather, learn and be entertained,” Angela Ahrendts, Apple senior vice president of retail, said. “We’re proud to introduce the Swift Playgrounds app into the workshops and honored to again work side-by-side with Code.org on this incredibly important initiative. Hour of Code is one of the absolute highlights of the year for both our teams and the families that visit our stores.”

Microsoft is also participating in Hour of Code and is offering a Minecraft-based tutorial.
