Apple Extends ATS Deadline

Last June, Apple warned iOS developers that they must enable App Transport Security (ATS) in any updates to their apps by January 1, 2107. Now the company has said that it will extend that deadline in order to give mobile development firms “additional time to prepare” for the security feature.

ATS loads app resources via HTTPS instead of via the less-secure HTTP. ATS is enabled in iOS apps by default, but developers can turn it off if they choose.
