Apple’s first quarter earnings report included plenty of good news for the mobile development industry. The company’s App Store sales increased 43 percent year-over-year, and in December alone iOS users made $3 billion worth of App Store purchases. The entire Services unit, which includes Apple Music, iCloud and other services, as well as the App Store, grew 18 percent to hit $7.17 in revenue.
“Revenue from Services grew strongly over last year, led by record customer activity on the App Store, and we are very excited about the products in our pipeline,” CEO Tim Cook said.
For the quarter, Apple sold 3.5 million more iPhones than during the previous year. It appears that many of those sales were to people who previously owned Samsung devices.
