Around 4 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, multiple Apple services, including the App Store, iCloud and the Photos Application, went offline. Some services were back online by 6:30 p.m. EDT, but others remained unavailable until 11:55 p.m. EDT. Apple has not released a comment on the cause of the outage.
For the mobile development industry, this type of downtime can have a significant impact on revenues. About a month ago, the App Store’s search feature experienced a glitch that resulted in a 10 percent drop in daily downloads for 65 percent of apps.
