Google has revealed that Android 6.0, which up until now has been called Android M, will be known as Android Marshmallow. In addition, it has released the final development preview for the operating system and has begun accepting Marshmallow-compatible apps into Google Play. The OS is scheduled to launch officially sometime this quarter.
Key features in Android Marshmallow, which Google is calling the most powerful version of Android to date, include the Doze battery life extender, USB-C support, a new permissions system, Google Now improvements, Android Pay support and automatic backup and restore.
