Amazon Releases Visual Studio Code Extension for Creating Alexa Skills

Amazon wants to make it easier for developers to create Alexa skills. To that end, it has released a new open source extension for Microsoft’s Visual Studio Code. “You can use the ASK extension to call the Alexa Skills Kit Command Line Interface (CLI) from within Visual Studio Code, and can see the results in an integrated terminal,” the Alexa team blogged. “This allows you to perform nearly all skill development actions within Visual Studio Code.”

In other Alexa news, Amazon also unveiled an Alexa Auto SDK for developers. Available on GitHub, the tool will allow developers to integrate Alexa into in-vehicle infotainment systems. Toyota has already announced plans for Alexa support.
