Amazon Releases Lumberyard Gaming Engine

Amazon has launched a new open source 3D gaming engine called Lumberyard. The tool makes it easy for developers to run their games on the Amazon Web Services cloud computing service, and it also integrates with Twitch. So far, it seems to be receiving excellent reviews.

Lumberyard is also generating attention because its service terms include a reference to a potential zombie apocalypse. The legalese states that Lumberyard isn’t for use with life- or safety-critical systems and then continues, “However, this restriction will not apply in the event of the occurrence (certified by the United States Centers for Disease Control or successor body) of a widespread viral infection transmitted via bites or contact with bodily fluids that causes human corpses to reanimate and seek to consume living human flesh, blood, brain or nerve tissue and is likely to result in the fall of organized civilization.”
