Amazon has unveiled the latest addition to its Echo line of Internet of Things (IoT) devices for home users. Unlike previous Echo devices, which function primarily as speakers, the Echo Show has a seven-inch screen. It can be used to make video calls and to perform lots of other functions. “Echo Show brings you everything you love about Alexa, and now she can show you things. Watch video flash briefings and YouTube, see music lyrics, security cameras, photos, weather forecasts, to-do and shopping lists, and more. All hands-free—just ask,” says the Amazon Website.
For developers, the interesting news is that, like other Echo devices, Echo Show will also use “skills,” the third-party services that integrate with Echo devices.
The Echo Show will retail for $229.99.
