Amazon Launches Login Service

Amazon Web Services has unveiled a new sign-on service for developers that it calls Login with Amazon. Developers can choose to use the service to provide authentication for their apps or websites. It provides users with the option of logging in with their Amazon, Google or Facebook password.

Because Amazon also has access to customer’s saved credit card information, the Amazon login option may yield to higher revenues for developers. And in fact, when Amazon tested the service with its Woot business unit, customers who logged in using their Amazon credentials had higher order conversion rates.
