Amazon has released a new Android app that offers a Chinese version of its Appstore. That has led to speculation that perhaps Amazon will begin selling its Kindle tablets and e-readers in the country. It began selling e-books in the country in December, but does not yet sell hardware there.
For the mobile development industry, the announcement means a new outlet for selling their apps. The Chinese market already has quite a few app stores, many run by phone makers and wireless providers.
