Adobe Plans to Charge Royalties on High-Earning Flash Apps

Adobe has announced a new pricing scheme for its Flash technology. Beginning in August, developers who use Flash’s “premium features” to build their apps must pay Adobe a 9 percent licensing fee on app sales over $50,000. This royalty comes on top of the licensing fees that developers already pay in order to use Flash.

Currently, Flash faces a number of challenges: Flash apps do not work on Apple’s mobile devices, and a growing number of Web and mobile development experts are choosing to use HTML5 instead of Flash.
