Adobe Flash Player 10.2 on Linux Uses GPU Video Acceleration

The first beta of Adobe Flash Player 10.2 is now available for Linux. The new Flash Player is the first version to take advantage of GPU-based video acceleration on Linux.

“For Linux users this Adobe Flash update is quite important since it finally delivers GPU-based video acceleration support via their new Stage Video technology that is now supported on all platforms,” Michael Larabel of Phoronix said.

Larabel tested Flash version 10.1 with 10.2 beta.

“The Flash video playback experience was a night-and-day difference on this Atom netbook,” Larabel reports.
