Adobe has announced that it is moving its creative tools completely to the cloud. As of June 17, it will no longer sell shrink-wrapped boxes containing its Creative Suite; instead, web developers, designers, photographers and others who rely on the company’s software will have to buy a subscription for the cloud computing version, Creative Cloud.
Adobe first launched Creative Cloud last year, and it currently has 1 million paying users and 2 million people who use the free versions of the tools. For a limited time, it’s also offering reduced prices to customers who previously bought downloadable versions of the software and now will need to purchase the software as a service.
