A new report from mobile app marketing platform Trademob finds that 22 percent of the clicks on mobile ads are accidents, and another 18 percent result from fraud. In all, 40 percent of mobile ad clicks are essentially worthless to advertisers. The report also found that less than 0.1 percent of the clicks on an ad for an app actually result in an app install.
Earlier this year, Kleiner Perkins partner Mary Meeker pointed out that mobile monetization continues to lag. The high volume of worthless clicks could be part of the problem.
