On Thursday, Apple launched its App Store for Apple Watch with 3,000 apps. That was significantly more than the 1,000 apps Apple CEO Tim Cook anticipated in an earlier memo. The first consumers will take delivery of their new Apple Watches on Friday.
The store offers some curated app collections in categories like health and fitness, quick-fix games, savvy shopping, work, learning on the go and others.
Many mobile development firms have expressed interest in extending their iOS apps with Apple Watch functionality. Analysts from appFigures predict the Apple Watch store could have more than 100,000 apps by the end of 2016.
