I am often asked about the Visual Studio .NET product. More specifically, I’m often asked how to get a copy. Currently you can get a copy of the Release Candidate online at:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/nextgen/getrc.asp

This page from Microsoft not only tells you how to order a copy, but also directs you to frequently asked questions and other useful information.

If you simply desire to have a copy sent to you without going through a bunch of pages on Microsoft’s site, then use the following URL:

http://developerstore.com/devstore/product.asp?productID=7653&store=TOOLBOX_NA

This URL takes you to a page that will let you order a copy of the DVD of Release Candidate 0. While the DVD is free, they charge you $10.95 to mail it.

Caution to Beta 2 Users

If you are already using Beta 2 of the .NET Framework and Visual Studio, then you will most likely want to avoid installation of the Release Candidate (RC0). RC0 only contains a few bug fixes since beta 2. More importantly, RC0 contains a “time bomb.” If you install it, it will quit working on February 28, 2002.
