Discover the Event Web (EW), a thin layer on top of the World Wide Web that is continuously active, monitoring information sources and responding appropriately as conditions change. Developed by the Infospheres Group at the California Institute of Technology, the EW enables Sense and Respond (S&R) applications, a new type of application that continuously responds to critical conditions.
Curious? Check out each of the following EW series articles to learn more. You then can be among the first to build tools to make the EW a reality.
- The Event Web: Sense and Respond to Critical Conditions
A thin layer on top of the World Wide Web called the Event Web (EW) can help you respond to threats and opportunities in your environment. Learn all about this project and its applications. - Service-Oriented Architecture: Event Web Building Block
Get an overview of service-oriented architecture (SOA), the compositional software structure at the heart of the Event Web. - Event-Driven Architecture: Event Web Building Block
Get a breakdown of the components that make up event-driven architectures. Then find out why the absence of messages actually conveys information in these architectures. - Event-Driven Architecture vs. Publish-Subscribe Systems
Event-driven architecture is much more powerful than the traditional publish-subscribe architecture because of the flexibility and dynamic nature of contracts between subscriber (client) and publisher (server). Explore the richness of EDA contracts and learn the design consequences of this richness.
