Windows Store Update Gives Developers More Flexibility

  • By Developer.com Staff

In a recent blog post, Microsoft announced some changes to the Windows Store that could benefit developers. First, developers now have more control over when they release apps. "Rather than only choosing the date, you can now set the hour and time zone. Additionally, you can change the release date while your app is in certification, rather than sending it through the certification process again," explained Microsoft's Keith Senzel.

It's also now easier to remove an app from the Windows Store (for example, if it needs bug fixes) and to make the app available once again.

Finally, the company has also relaxed some of the requirements for certification. It will now allow more types of ads within apps, and it did away with some rules related to power consumption and data use.
