Google has released the first developer preview of Android P, the next update to its mobile operating system. For mobile development pros, the biggest change in the preview is support for the “notch,” the cutaway section of the screen that first appeared in Apple’s iPhone X and now is making its way onto several Android smartphones.

Other new changes in Android P include images in notifications, smart replies for texting, indoor mapping, longer battery life and improved security.

Google will reveal more about Android P at the Google I/O conference in May.
