At least week’s Build conference, Microsoft announced that Visual Studio Online had reached general availability status. The company launched the cloud-based version of its IDE as a preview last November. The service now carries a service level agreement (SLA) that guarantees 99.9 percent uptime, and Microsoft has also made it easier to move data between Visual Studio Online and on-premise versions of Team Foundation Server.

According to Microsoft, the number of Visual Studio Online users has tripled since January and now totals more than a million. The service handles more than 100 million requests on an average day.
