Technology firms are continuing to snap up smaller companies involved in big data, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. This week, Apple revealed that it has acquired Lattice.io, a startup that said it could turn “dark data into structured data with human-caliber quality at machine-caliber scale.” The companies did not divulge the purchase price, but analyst estimates place it between $175 million and $200 million.
In addition, data management company TIBCO Software has announced that it will buy Statistica, which makes data science software. The Statistica technology will become part of the TIBCO Insight Platform. They also did not disclose terms of the acquisition.
