The Eclipse Foundation’s IoT Working Group has released its fourth annual IoT Developer survey. It found that Amazon Web Services (AWS) was developers’ favorite cloud computing platform Microsoft Azure was a strong number two among cloud computing vendors, but Google appeared to be struggling.
Among programming languages, Java was the number one vote-getter, followed by C, JavaScript, Python and C++.
The survey also revealed that security and data collection and analytics are key concerns for IoT developers. MQTT is the preferred option for messaging, and 93 percent of developers use open source databases for storing data. Raspbian was the most popular IoT operating system.
