Many in the tech industry are very excited about the growing crop of wearable technology devices like Google Glass and smartwatches, but a new survey reveals that consumers aren’t so sure they’ll want to buy the devices. In a Harris poll, 40 percent of those surveyed said wearable tech could be useful, but 47 percent disagreed. Opinion was also mixed on whether wearable tech could be stylish: 43 percent said yes, 41 percent, no.

Still, the poll found that 46 percent of those surveyed are at least a little bit interested in owning a smartwatch, and 27 percent are “very” or “somewhat” interested.

Mobile development firms interested in building apps for the new devices may want to consider the poll findings before moving ahead with wearable tech projects.
