Study Finds Rise in Mobile Web Development

A Forrester report commissioned by mobile development tool vendor Sencha finds rising interest in mobile Web technologies. In the survey, 27 percent of senior technical leaders said that they were shifting some development away from native technologies to the mobile Web. “Web technology has gone mainstream, with 63 percent reporting that it is critical to their Web and mobile application strategy,” stated the report. “Successful companies, defined as those companies with 75 percent or more of their Web and mobile apps successful, are investing in Web technologies to differentiate their products and customer experiences from those of competitors.”

When asked why they were embracing the mobile Web, 69 percent of respondents said that the change was intended to make the mobile development process more efficient, and 41 percent believed mobile Web technologies would improve app quality.
