Samsung Delays Tizen Smartphone Launch

Previously, Samsung had announced plans to launch a Tizen-based smartphone called the Samsung Z in Russia this quarter, but the firm now says it is postponing that launch. The official reason for the delay is that Samsung needs to work with the mobile development community to encourage the creation of more Tizen apps.

Samsung developed the Tizen OS as an alternative to Android, but the future isn’t looking bright for this mobile platform. No smartphones or tablets run the OS yet, and Samsung recently had to cancel a Tizen developer event due to lack of interest.
